US-NC-WBTV News-Salmonella Outbreak Contained at Newton Restaurant
Salmonella outbreak is contained in Newton tonight and the restaurant where it all started has been cleared to re-open.But WBTV’s Kristen Hampton talked to the owner today who says his doors will remain closed.

There are two different businesses affected, one is a grocery shop the other is a restaurant. Both were closed by the salmonella outbreak and only the grocery will re-open.

US-MN-Twin Cities.com-Pizza plant back in action
General Mills, the Golden Valley-based company that owns the Totino’s and Jeno’s brands, halted production for three days at its Ohio frozen-pizza plant while inspections occurred, said company spokesman Tom Forsythe.
No contaminations were found at the plant and production resumed shortly after, Forsythe said. The cause for the outbreak has yet to be determined.
On Nov. 1, officials with General Mills warned consumers and supermarkets to throw away all Totino’s and Jeno’s frozen pizzas that contained pepperoni after an E. coli outbreak that sickened 21 people in 10 states.
No cases were reported in Minnesota.
Nine of the 21 people who were ill were reported to have eaten Totino’s or Jeno’s brand pepperoni pizza prior to becoming ill. Although the cause of the illnesses was unknown, as a precaution the company issued a recall of at least 5 million pizzas at supermarkets nationwide….more..

US-GA-The Weekly-Sweetwater recalls two cheeses due to possible Listeria contamination
Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin is alerting Georgians to another Sweetwater Valley Farms cheese recall.
Sweetwater Valley Farms, Inc. of Philadelphia, TN is recalling its Tennessee Aged Southern Mild Cheddar Cheese (yellow) and Tennessee Aged Southern Sharp Cheddar Cheese (yellow) because the cheeses have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women….more…
